Sacraments

Sacraments are "powers that comes forth" from the Body of Christ, which is ever-living and life-giving. They are actions of the Holy Spirit at work in his Body, the Church. They are "the masterworks of God" in the new and everlasting covenant.

Sacraments are signs of God's grace in our lives - opening us to the presence of God in the world and in ourselves.  Catholics have seven Sacraments that we believe were instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church for God's people.

Three Sacraments are initiation sacraments through which individuals are welcomed into the faith of Christ.  These Sacraments  are Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.

Two Sacraments are strengthening and renewing; Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick.

Two Sacraments recognize the special call that some members of the community have for particular service; Marriage and Holy Orders.

Please click on any of the Sacraments listed to the left, to receive more information on how you might receive a Sacrament at St. Joseph.
