Our Resident Ensemble
Choral Arts is a Seattle-based ensemble of approximately thirty singers dedicated to our mission: to inspire, educate, and enrich our community through the transformational power of great choral music performed at the highest artistic level.
Under the masterful direction of Robert Bode, Choral Arts presents a mix of styles, periods and languages at each concert, all tied together thematically. Performances include new American choral music, as well as a faithful representation of many different choral music genres. In drawing singers exclusively from the Puget Sound region, Choral Arts has maintained its community-based roots while reaching a level of excellence in musicianship and performance that has earned them national recognition and critical acclaim.
Bode and Choral Arts were awarded the Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence in 2010, and won and placed second for The American Prize for choral performance (community division) in 2010 and 2013, respectively. The group has also performed at the ACDA Regional Conference in 2010 and at the 2013 Chorus America National Conference. In 2014, Choral Arts won third place in The American Prize for their recording “Life Stories: The Choral Music of Eric William Barnum”, and Bode placed second in the American Prize for Choral Conducting. Choral Arts currently has seven commercially released recordings under the Gothic record label.
We are delighted to return to St. Joseph Parish for our fourth year as a resident ensemble and feel blessed to work so closely with both the Parish and School to further enrich our community. Through our concerts and education programs, we strive to reveal the emotional truth of music and to reveal something elusive; it is what lies beneath and between the notes that connects us as a larger community.
We invite you to come with us on a journey this season--explore the treasures of the most intimate and expressive of all instruments…the human voice. To learn more about Choral Arts or how you can become involved in our outreach, visit here.
