St. Martin de Porres Meals
Feeding the Hungry
St. Joseph’s parishioners and volunteers support St. Martin de Porres Shelter by making and serving sandwiches, boiled eggs, fruit and milk for men age 50 and older.
The meal program began in response to a need of the Archdiocesan Housing Authority’s St. Martin de Porres shelter. St. Martin’s provides overnight shelter for 212 men and a warm meal for 275-300 men a day. They do not, however, have a large kitchen in which to prepare a meal so they rely on outside groups to provide the food each night of the year. Ours is one of many groups who work in collaboration to provide meals for the men 365 days a year. Click here to access the St. Martin de Porres Shelter website.
