Housing Advocacy

St. Joseph Parish is committed to advocating for a just society, one in which EVERYBODY, not just the privileged, are provided for. This means a radical re-shaping of our current system, which leaves so many behind. Under the Faith Justice Commision, our advocates for houseless neighbors lobby local, state, and national governments to rethink how they address poverty and homelessness. The Commission supports referendums like I-135 for Social Housing, and does not believe that sweeps of our houseless neighbors produces anything but prolonged suffering. 

The Parish also partners with Facing Homelessness to provide meals for their Window of Kindness, St. Martin de Porres shelter, Catholic Community Services, St. Vincent de Paul, St. Francis House and SHARE/WHEEL Tent City 3 to help provide for the material needs of all in our city. We also maintain a Community Fridge on the lawn at 19th & Aloha - stop by anytime to donate food or take what you need!
