Instrumentalists

Expressing the Faith

The primary role of the organist, other instrumentalists or an instrumental ensemble is to lead and sustain the singing of the assembly and of the choir and cantor without dominating or overpowering them. The many "voices" of the organ and other instruments, with their great range of expression, add varied and colorful dimensions to the song of the assembly and help our spirits to soar. There are opportunities to play as part of the 9 a.m. choral ensemble as well as opportunities for solo playing. Instrumentalists must be able to sight read music and be proficient on your instrument. The ability to improvise is very helpful in the liturgical setting.
